Precautions for use

Very mild, thyme essential oil with thujanol is well tolerated by all except pregnant women and infants under 3 months of age.

All routes of administration are permitted, but the most favourable uses are oral and dermal.

Diffusion is rather unpleasant.

Other precautions

Cutaneous use:

  • This essential oil can be used pure. For children under the age of 6, a dilution of 20% is recommended before application to the skin.

Ingestion:

  • Children under the age of 3 should not take this essential oil.

Allergenic components:

Thyme essential oil with thujanol contains biochemical allergenic components:

  • linalool ( 30%)
  • limonene (≤ 6%)
  • geraniol (≤ 3%)
  • citral (geranial + neral) (≤ 2%)

Note: It is best to test the essential oil before use (two drops on the crease of the elbow for at least 24 hours to check for a reaction).

Indications

Directions for use/usual dosage

  • Angina: 2 drops on a lump of sugar or a neutral tablet to melt in the mouth 3 times a day, and 2 drops of EO externally on the tonsils.
  • Angina or other ENT infections in babies and young children: effective rectally in synergy with other essential oils.
  • Liver congestion or insufficiency: taken orally in combination with other appropriate essential oils.
  • Fungal infections, mouth infections, cold extremities: apply purely topically in synergy with other essential oils.
