Hepar sulphuris calcareum

Widely used in homeopathy, Hepar sulfuris calcareum is a remedy developed by Dr Samuel Hahnemann from purified sulphur flowers and oyster lime.

In order for the remedy to achieve its full therapeutic effect, the strains needed to make the remedy must be mixed in equal parts before being ground into lactose.

Hepar sulfuris calcareum is a remedy used to prevent and treat certain acute or chronic inflammatory and infectious diseases. It is therefore used primarily in the treatment of dermatoses associated with purulent collections, as well as acute or recurrent ENT disorders and respiratory infections.

In general, Hepar sulfuris calcareum is a particularly suitable remedy for inflammatory conditions leading to suppuration in the tissues of the skin, ear or respiratory tract.

This remedy is ideal for those who are more susceptible to infections and is also indicated for those with certain behavioural disorders, such as excessive irritability or emotionality compared to normal.

It is also important to note that Hepar sulfuris calcareum is fully indicated for those who cannot tolerate pain or cold.

It can also be used for people who complain of a burning sensation in the affected parts of the body.

Finally, it can be administered when the pain felt by the patient is significantly reduced by applying warm compresses to the affected areas.

Dermatology

For skin conditions, hepar sulfuris calcareum is ideal for treating abscesses, boils, hidradenitis (staphylococcal infection of the sweat glands in the armpits or perineum), impetigo, staphylococcal skin disease, acne or varicose ulcers of the legs.

In the vast majority of cases, the drugs are used to limit the formation of pus, to avoid the use of antibiotic therapy or to prevent possible recurrences.

Otolaryngology

With regard to ENT diseases, hepar sulfuris calcareum treats and prevents laryngitis, rhinitis, mucopurulent nasopharyngitis (containing mucus and pus), erythematous pulmonary angina, sinusitis and acute otitis.

In general, the drug provides a durable cure, limiting the risk of recurrence.

Pneumology

Hepar sulfuris calcareum may also be indicated in the treatment of respiratory infections such as bronchitis or tracheobronchitis, an inflammatory condition that affects both the windpipe and the bronchial tubes.

For example, in the case of acute bronchitis, the drug may be given when the patient complains of a burning sensation in the throat, while in chronic bronchitis or tracheobronchitis, the drug is used as part of an underlying treatment.

Ophthalmology

With regard to ophthalmic diseases, Hepar sulfuris calcareum is ideal for the treatment of infectious conjunctivitis accompanied by pus and itching.

In both cases, the remedy should be used as soon as the first symptoms appear in order to prevent the formation of pus.

Urology and Gynaecology

As regards urological disorders, hepar sulfuris calcareum is particularly suitable for the prophylactic treatment of chronic prostatitis, an inflammation of the prostate gland associated with certain bacteria.

Similarly, in endometritis (inflammation of the lining of the uterus), the remedy is particularly effective in preventing recurrences.

Other indications

Hepar sulfuris calcareum is a remedy that can be used to treat diarrhoea in babies and young children.

Very mild and completely harmless, this homeopathic remedy is really ideal for reducing the intensity of disorders and reducing the frequency of symptoms.

In dentistry, Hepar sulfuris calcareum is used primarily to relieve dental abscesses and superficial gum abscesses while waiting for a doctor's appointment.
