Definition of the pathology

Laryngitis is an inflammation of the larynx, the main symptom of which is hoarseness of varying intensity. Laryngitis can be divided into two main types according to the duration of the symptoms, namely:

  • Acute laryngitis, where symptoms last for about 7 days and is more common in children
  • Chronic laryngitis, where symptoms last for weeks and is most common in adults
