Belladonna

Often used in homeopathy, belladonna is a remedy made from a variety of plants known for their medicinal properties.

Atropa belladonna, which is widespread in alpine regions, is a plant that contains many virtues despite being highly toxic.

For this reason, once the mother tincture necessary for the preparation of the remedy has been obtained, it is diluted several times so that the final substance is obviously free of any toxicity.

However, thanks to the process of dynamisation, the healing properties of the remedy remain intact, ensuring optimal therapeutic efficacy.

Although Belladonna is very often associated with the treatment of fever and acute respiratory diseases, it should be noted that the scope of this remedy goes far beyond the few indications to which it is usually reduced.

Infectology

Belladonna is particularly indicated for the treatment of fevers that subside rapidly and are accompanied by a feeling of warmth in the face and profuse sweating.

It can also be used for fevers accompanied by convulsions, hallucinations, delirium and photophobia, a fear of bright light often associated with eye disease or meningitis.

Belladonna is also recommended for infectious diseases such as nasopharyngitis, non-streptococcal angina, laryngitis, otitis or tracheitis.

It can be used when a person complains of a dry feeling in the mouth, throat, nose, eyes or trachea.

Belladonna also prevents the formation of pus in an abscess, when the inflammation is surrounded by a reddish halo and accompanied by a feeling of warmth and throbbing pain.

Inflammatory syndromes

With regard to inflammatory syndromes, belladonna is indicated for headaches, particularly pulsatile vasomotor headaches with facial flushing.

It also helps to significantly relieve first degree burns characterised by congested redness of the skin tissues, as well as sun erythema and sunstroke.

Finally, Belladonna is ideal for reducing the symptoms associated with radiodermatitis, a group of skin lesions caused by prolonged exposure to X-rays, radium or radioactive substances.

In some cases it may even be recommended to relieve hiccups when they occur.

Additional guidance

In addition to infectious and inflammatory pathologies, Belladonna is also used to treat heat waves accompanied by flushing, palpitations and profuse sweating.

This homeopathic remedy can also be used to treat and prevent paroxysmal tachycardia accompanied by profuse sweating and certain forms of spasmodic hypertension.

In the eye, Belladonna is recommended for the treatment of allergic conjunctivitis, pinkeye and photophobia.
