Silver (Ag)

Description

Silver is a non-essential trace element, which means it is not naturally present in the body.

Its anti-infective and antimicrobial properties were confirmed by Paracelsus in the 16th century, who used silver plates to heal leg ulcers.

By binding to the coat of viruses and the membrane of cells, silver stops the replication of viruses and the reproduction of bacteria.

This trace element would also increase the permeability of bacterial membranes, facilitating the entry of surrounding molecules and increasing the effectiveness of antibiotics.

Indicated for infections of the ENT, silver complements Copper and Bismuth, which are traditionally used for influenza and sore throats respectively.

Silver reinforces the antiviral action of copper and limits the risk of bacterial super-infection.

It is an excellent healer:

When applied topically, silver improves and accelerates wound healing.

It is traditionally used to heal canker sores and small wounds in the mouth.

Deficiency

Deficiency is not possible as it is a non-essential trace element.

Sources

Silver is not naturally present in our bodies and contributions are almost non-existent, hence the interest in supplementation.
