Organoleptic properties

Botanical and organoleptic characteristics may vary according to production conditions (country, sun, organic production, etc.).

  • Colour: Golden yellow
  • Aroma: Fresh grass, with a hint of asparagus and some kohlrabi.
  • Texture: Fluid
  • Taste: Vegetal (similar to asparagus), sometimes reminiscent of almonds

Composition

The composition of vegetable oils is strongly influenced by the conditions under which they are produced.

In order to guarantee its quality, it is advisable to choose an extra virgin olive oil obtained by cold pressing, preferably of organic origin.

Fatty acid composition

  • Monounsaturated fatty acids: 30% oleic and gadoleic acid (omega 9)
  • Polyunsaturated fatty acids:
    • 30 to 35% alpha-linolenic acid (omega 3)
    • 20 to 30% linoleic acid (omega 6)
  • Saturated fatty acids: 5 to 10% palmitic acid

  • Vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol)
  • Phytosterols
  • Provitamin A

Indications

Precautionary measures

Camelina oil oxidises easily when exposed to air and light.

It is recommended that this oil be consumed within 2 to 6 months of opening the bottle and stored in the refrigerator.

Prefer opaque bottles of small capacity.

It cannot be heated.

As a precaution, it is advisable to use camelina oil sparingly when on anticoagulant treatment (due to its antiplatelet and vasodilator properties).
