Kalium iodatum

Potassium iodide is a compound obtained from a chemical preparation based on iodine and potassium hydroxide.

The powder obtained is actually a crystalline compound that is colourless and odourless.

The fine grinding of potassium iodide in lactose is one step in the manufacturing process of this homeopathic remedy.

This step, called grinding, is followed by diluting the ground substance in alcohol.

In the next step, which is the dynamisation between each homeopathic dilution, this solution is stirred in order to preserve and strengthen the therapeutic properties of the remedy.

Thus prepared, Kalium Iodatum is a mineral remedy of great utility in the treatment of a wide range of ailments.

Otolaryngology

The otorhinolaryngological indications for Kalium Iodatum include a range of inflammatory conditions.

These are inflammations of the paranasal sinuses, mucous membranes or nasal cavities.

With this remedy you can treat acute frontal sinusitis, which is characterised by diffuse pain in the frontal sinuses.

It relieves the symptoms of rhinitis, which is characterised by a watery, irritating nasal discharge.

Colds, coryza and hay fever are also included in the therapeutic action of this remedy.

Its efficacy also relieves patients with itching or ulcers in the throat, inflammation of the larynx and enlargement of the thyroid gland (goiter).

Ophthalmology

The prescription of Kalium Iodatum is recommended for the treatment of ocular inflammation, in general of the iris (iritis) and in particular of the choroid (choroiditis).

It is also used for inflammation of the conjunctiva, or acute conjunctivitis, and for keratitis, or inflammation of the cornea.

This homeopathic remedy is also effective in the treatment of oedemas associated with acute pain under the eyelids or affecting the conjunctiva, resulting in greenish, purulent secretions, which are the manifest signs of chemosis.

Rheumatology

The curative properties of Kalium Iodatum are also involved in the treatment of joint and bone pain.

It should be remembered that this remedy is recommended in cases of rheumatism, particularly localised in the knee, which are worse at night or under the influence of heat.

It is therefore well suited to treating inflammation of the knee, pain in the toes or in the periosteum.

Chronic synovitis is also an indication for this remedy.
