Chamomile Tincture



Ingredients

  • Dried chamomile flowers (10 to 15 grams for a 300 mL bottle)
  • Alcoholic drink (for example, grain alcohol or vodka)
  • Sterilized 300 mL bottle (with a lid, for example, a jam jar)
  • Coffee filter
  • Sterilized dark bottle for storing the tincture

Preparation

  1. Fill in a jar to a third of the height with the dried chamomile flowers.
  2. Cover with the alcoholic drink (for example, vodka), until it reaches the top.
  3. Close the jar tightly.
  4. Let the mixture rest for 2 to 3 weeks (you will notice after a while a change in the color of the dye) and shake occasionally.
  5. Filter the mixture through a coffee filter.
  6. Transfer the dye into a sterilized dark bottle.
  7. Close tightly, add the date and the name of the tincture.

Dosage

Take 1-2 teaspoons of this mixture, for example, in case of digestive disorders (including irritable bowel syndrome).

You can drink the tincture directly or mix it with water, teas or juice.

Use a maximum of 3 times a day.

For a more personalized dose, ask your naturopath.

You can also use chamomile tincture for external use, for example by mixing it with an ointment or cream. Its external use is against dry skin.

Note

As this mixture contains alcohol and is contraindicated in children.
