Enzymes are proteins that help speed up the metabolism, or chemical reactions, in our bodies. They build some substances and break down others. All living things have enzymes. Our bodies make enzymes naturally. Enzymes are active protein molecules that play the essential role of catalysts at the origin of all chemical reactions in the body.
