St. John's Wort Maceration



  • A handful of St. John's Wort flowers (fresh or dried)
  • Approximately 200 ml of olive (extra virgin olive oil if possible) or sunflower oil

Preparation

  1. Let the flowers marinate in olive or sunflower oil in a sealed clear jar of about 250 ml (i.e. a jam jar) for 2 to 3 weeks.
  2. Stir occasionally, and possibly expose the jar to the sun. The mixture will gradually become red in color.
  3. Filter the mixture and keep it closed in a thermos.

Dosage

Apply this oil 2 to 3 times a day directly to wounds, burns, or sore areas (e.g. joints, muscles).

You can also use this oil as a raw material for making creams or ointments.

Storage time of the preparation

Up to 1 year (away from heat and at room temperature).
