Definition of the pathology

A tendon is a fibrous tissue that connects muscles to bones, transmitting muscle force and allowing movement. Although tough and elastic, some tendons are overstretched and the fibres can partially tear after repeated friction.

Tendonitis is common in people who perform repetitive movements at work or in sports and can affect any tendon, although certain types of tendonitis are more common, such as tendonitis of the elbow, shoulder, wrist, Achilles tendon or even the hip.
