Taoist Six Healing Sounds

Originating from the Tao, this ancient practice combines the vibrational power of certain sounds with postures and visualisation.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, each organ corresponds to a colour, an emotion, a season.

Everything is connected and interdependent.

For example, in winter it is best to practise the sound of the kidneys.

Similarly, in the case of anger, it is recommended to practise the liver sound (by the way, the liver sound is "chhhh" as in "chhutt", ideal for welcoming and calming anger...).

The Six Healing Sounds allow you to strengthen the energy of the organs and thus balance the body.

  • A healing sound for every organ
  • A healing sound for every season
  • A healing sound for every emotion

The six healing sounds

  • The sound of the lungs: "ssss" (snake hiss)
  • The heart sound: "hhaaaaaaa" (light sigh with an exhaled "h")
  • The spleen/stomach/pancreas sound: "hoo" (the sound comes from deep in the throat, like a tiger growling)
  • The kidney sound: "tchouuuuuuuuuuuuu" (the "or" sound is identical to the wind sound)
  • The liver sound: "chhhh" (like a "shh")
  • The triple heating sound: "Hiii" (the "h" is exhaled and the lips are stretched as if smiling intensely)

Practice the 6 healing sounds

  • Start with audible sounds while sitting with your back straight.
  • According to Mantak Chia's practice, repeat the sounds 36 times in a row.
  • Practice daily.

The postures of the six healing sounds

The lung-healing sound "ssss", associated with the colour white, is practised with the arms above the head. The palms are facing the sky.

The heart healing sound "hhaaaaaa", associated with the colour red, is practised with the arms raised with a slight stretch on the opposite side of the heart to give more space to the heart.

The spleen/stomach/pancreas healing sound "hoo", associated with the colour yellow, is practised by leaning slightly forward to the left, with the hands going as if to grasp the spleen.

The Kidney healing sound: "tchchouuuuuuuuuuu" is practised by leaning forward slightly, grabbing the knees and exhaling with the head raised.

The liver healing sound "chhhh", associated with the colour green, is practised with the arms above the head, stretching more on the left side, the side opposite the liver.

The triple warming sound "Hiii" is practised lying down. The arms slowly descend from the top of the head to the lower part of the body.
