Bifidobacterium longum

Bifidobacterium longum is one of the bacteria in the human gut microbiota, an ecosystem of billions of microorganisms.

This gram-positive bacterium belongs to the phylum (group) of Actinobacteria.

It is strictly anaerobic, which means that it can only grow in the absence of oxygen.

When it multiplies, Bifidobacterium longum has an immunostimulating effect and inhibits the growth of pathogenic bacteria.

In addition, in people with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), this bifidobacterium helps to correct intestinal permeability and improve the symptoms associated with this condition (abdominal pain, bloating, flatulence and diarrhoea).

Other properties of Bifidobacterium longum are also beneficial to health: by facilitating the production of lactase, this bacterium improves the assimilation of lactose in people intolerant to this substance.

Bifidobacterium longum also helps to reduce the level of "bad cholesterol" (LDL) in the blood.

Bifidobacterium longum is a bacterium that is naturally present in the gut microbiota and helps to fight pathogenic bacteria.

Studies have also shown an improvement in irritable bowel syndrome permeability after taking this bacterium.
