Marigold ointment

Ingredients

  • 1 handful (approx. 70 g) of fresh Marigold flowers or a half-pound of dried marigold flowers.
  • 200 g vaseline

Preparation

  1. Melt the petroleum jelly over low heat and add the marigold flowers.
    • The petroleum jelly will very quickly take on a liquid, oily form (which allows the active ingredients of the marigold to be extracted).
  2. Boil everything a few seconds and mix well.
  3. Put the mixture into a muslin and squeeze well.
  4. Let it cool.
  5. Place in a jar or tube.

Dosage

  • For injuries, wounds or burns apply several times a day.
    • When blisters are present, apply directly to the affected area, covering with a bandage.
  • At night, when lying down, remove the bandage to allow the blister to air dry for a few hours.
  • For diaper rash, 15 to 20 minutes after cleansing the baby's bottom and air-drying, apply calendula ointment.
    • This plant helps to heal the tissues and also reduces the risk of fungal and bacterial infections.
    • The ointment also prevents dampness.
    • After applying the ointment, leave the baby's bottom exposed to the air for 30 to 45 minutes.
    • Repeat the process 2 times a day.
