Definition of the pathology
Infantile eczema, or atopic dermatitis, is a skin condition that progresses in flares and usually appears between the ages of 3 months and 2 years. It is often associated with a food allergy problem. It is not a serious condition, but the lesions caused by scratching can become infected and leave visible scars. Children who have eczema in early childhood are more likely to develop asthma or respiratory allergies later in life.
