Over time, silver loses its lustre and, above all, turns black. This inevitable phenomenon is due to a chemical reaction between the silver and the hydrogen sulphide in the air we breathe. But don't worry, it's very easy to restore its shine.
Ingredients
- 2 teaspoons sieved wood ash
- 3 tablespoons water
Preparation
- Pour the ash into a bowl, add water and stir with a wooden spoon until you obtain a homogeneous liquid.
- Moisten the edge of a cloth with the mixture and gently rub the silver until the black disappears. You'll see, it's very quick!
- Then wipe with the dry edge of the cloth.
Tip
This recipe also works for silver jewellery.
