Side effects

If consumed in high or prolonged doses, loss of electrolytes may occur in the laxative effect (internal use) or the bowels may become sluggish.

Contraindications

Pregnancy and lactation, in internal use. 

Interactions

There may be interaction with medications, for example for the heart, having an effect on potassium (in internal use).
