Definition of the pathology

Salpingitis is a gynaecological condition in which there is inflammation of the uterine tubes, also known as the fallopian tubes, which is most commonly related to infection with sexually transmitted bacteria such as Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae, and can also be related to IUD insertion or as a result of gynaecological surgery, for example.
