Definition of the pathology

Postpartum depression is a psychological disorder that can occur soon after the baby's birth or up to about 6 months after the birth and is characterised by constant sadness, lack of interest in the baby, low self-esteem, discouragement and feelings of guilt. It can be triggered by fear of motherhood, increased responsibility, relationship difficulties or stress during pregnancy.
