Definition of the pathology

Gastro-oesophageal reflux is the reflux of stomach contents back into the oesophagus and towards the mouth, causing constant pain and inflammation of the oesophageal wall when the muscles and sphincters that should prevent stomach acid from leaving the inside of the oesophagus do not work properly.
