5. What precautions should I take?

Detox cures offer a beneficial rebalancing for your health. Of course, a simple three- or seven-day cure won't magically eliminate all your health problems. But a detox cure can help you move in the right direction, recharge your batteries, get back on track and initiate a beneficial change in your lifestyle.

However, if you suffer from a chronic illness (diabetes or heart failure, for example), it's best to seek your doctor's advice before embarking on this type of programme, especially the more restrictive ones (such as single-day diets lasting several days).

The 'symptoms' of a good detox

A detox cure is not without its undesirable effects. Don't worry: these are temporary, and above all are a sign that the toxins are being eliminated properly. The more clogged up your body is, the more these symptoms will be present: headaches and migraines, joint pain, nausea, etc. These symptoms generally appear after the second day, and can last for two or three days. That's why it's a good idea to schedule your detox at a calm time, without the stress of work or other obligations, for example at the weekend or during the holidays.
