Definition of the pathology

Cold sores are an infection caused by the herpes simplex virus that causes blisters or sores to appear in the mouth, usually on the lips or in the area just under the lip. Cold sores are highly contagious because they are spread by direct contact, such as kissing, or by sharing objects such as cups, cutlery or towels.
