Definition of the pathology
Fibromyalgia is a chronic neurological condition that causes widespread pain throughout the body and increased sensitivity to pain. As the discomfort caused by the condition lasts for several months or even years, people with fibromyalgia are also more likely to experience excessive fatigue, sleep problems and psychological distress. Fibromyalgia is more common in women and the first symptoms usually appear in adulthood, usually between the ages of 30 and 50.
