- The bark of the common pear tree contains floridzin.

- It also includes riboflavin, niacin, and protein.

Forms of use
- Infusion: 3 to 4 teaspoons of fresh leaves to 1 cup of boiling water. Leave to infuse for 10 minutes. Strain. Drink 5 to 8 cups per day.
- Pears can be eaten in the form of jams and juices.
- The sprouts and young shoots can enhance the flavor of certain cold dishes (salads).
